Habitat for Humanity of Craven County announced the appointment of Heather Thornburg to the board of directors.

Ms. Thornburg currently serves as a Risk Advisor at Wade Associates located in Downtown New Bern.  While she can advise on just about any type of risk, her primary focus is on Social Services. “I’m especially passionate about providing support for Churches and Non-profit organizations.  Having been in the insurance industry for more than 17 years, it’s an honor to be able to incorporate my passions into my professional life,” said Thornburg.

Born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, she believes in investing in our community.  Habitat for Humanity certainly exemplifies that passion for her. Ms. Thornburg added, “I’m excited to be a part of the Habitat Team and am thankful for an opportunity to serve in this new chapter.”
When not working she serves in a leadership role at her church, sits on the Nonprofit Council for the New Bern Chamber of Commerce, and also volunteers with organizations like RCS and Special Needs Baseball.

Board Chair and President, Rose MacNeal stated, “We are pleased to have Heather serve on our Board.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.  She understands our mission and vision as she currently serves on our Volunteer Services Committee.  Heather will also serve in her new role as Chair of the Affiliate’s Fund Development Committee.”

Habitat for Humanity of Craven County was established in 1989 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit Christian housing ministry. Since our founding, Habitat for Humanity of Craven County has grown into one of the leading affordable housing agencies in the county, building 79 affordable homes that have changed the lives of many residents in the communities we serve.
